You’re Better At This Than You Think

Ben Harris It's remarkable how he takes such bog-standard preset chiptune/breakbeat sampling fare and turns into something weird and menacing. If I had to visualize Dot.AY's sound, imagine a prowling vaguely humanoid mass of glitching video game sprites, textures and sky-boxes, from which two gelid, unblinking and hostile maroon coloured eyes stare out. Favorite track: Vibraslop.

bryface international music concern The unconventional, completely-analog recording process lends a nicely organic, lived-in quality to the sample-heavy experimental dub vibes what will please the bass addicts living secretly and illegally in every normal person's basement Favorite track: Bad Break.

Jellica i didnt realise dubstep was still a thing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Favorite track: Bad Break.

godinpants The dolphin boy did a good dance to this one at squaresounds tokyo. You might think it's 8 bits, but nah, 4 tbo. Favorite track: Lightning Dub.

This release was written to perform at Square Sound Tokyo 2018. Having a supportive and enthusiastic community that pushed me to write more music is one of the greatest things about the chipmusic scene. The music is the result of trying something new and learning to accept and embrace my sound for what it is. On top of this, I explored collaborative recording at an analogue studio, direct to tape, no computers, a bunch of ears and no distractions. I hope you have as much fun listening as we had recording it!
